Hi John.
Rule of thumb for setting a radar in the correct order of adjusting the controls is to remember Big Girls Take Cock. Brilliance Gain Tune Clutter. Assuming all controls are set to minimum, switch on your radar and after it's warmed up and in standby, switch to transmit. Adjust the Brilliance or contrast for easy viewing of the screen. Adjust the Gain next so you just start to see a specalled back ground on the screen. This is receiver noise. Tune your set next for maximum targets and sea clutter. Lastly increase the sea clutter control to reduce the ammount of clutter at the centre of the screen, but leave a little. Above is a general rule of thumb. Some of these adjustments, tuning, for example may be automatic so best to use the auto setting. Brilliance won't normally apply to a LCD diplay. If you have a rain clutter control always keep it at a minimum setting. Hope this helps. Dave. |
